Sugar Creek is the first step to transform the American state of Illinois into a wind energy hub to meet the region´s growing demand for clean, cost effective renewable energy. Joachim Payr, Managing Director of the Energiewerkstatt Munderfing remarks: "Our activity in Sugar Creek is an important first step for the implementation of our goals in the dynamic American wind energy market. We are glad, that we can support Barack Obama´s energy politics from right here in Munderfing." The Energiewerkstatt GmbH owns shares in The Wind Company which has plans to implement the Sugar Creek project with its partners. The Energiewerkstatt will contribute its planning services based on long years of experience in the wind energy branch.
Austria´s leading wind energy company bundles its know-how for expansion
The changeover of power in the USA has set new impulses for climate politics and for the energy turnaround. The new president supports renewable energy and has opened the market for foreign investors. The Energiewerkstatt expected this change of policy and prepared for the step overseas. Together with Raiffeisen Energy & Environment, WEB Windenergie, ImWind Elements and Windkraft Simonsfeld, The Wind Company was founded, a project company whose goal is to install large wind farms outside of the European Union, especially in the USA. "We are entering markets, where no one goes alone", says the Managing Director Von Langenn-Steinkeller, a proven wind power and financial expert. "We are focusing on the USA and Canada."
The Springfield Project Development LLC. recently announced that The Wind Company GmbH will acquire a one third interest in its 405 MW Sugar Creek wind energy project. This amounts to about half of the installed capacity of the turbines in operation in Austria today. Property for the Sugar Creek project has been acquired, grid connection and permits will be finalized soon. The project will immediately create new jobs for Illinois and supply the state with clean wind power as of 2011.
